Fun Home, the acclaimed musical by Lisa Kron (book & lyrics) and Jeanine Tesori (music), is a deeply intimate exploration of family, memory, and identity. Based on Alison Bechdel’s graphic memoir, the show unfolds through a unique, layered storytelling structure: three versions of Alison—child, college-aged, and adult—share the stage, each confronting a different chapter of her life.

At the heart of the musical is the fraught and tender relationship between Alison and her father, Bruce, a brilliant yet troubled man whose struggles with closeted sexuality and emotional volatility shape the family’s entire world. Their home, a funeral parlor the children nickname the “Fun Home,” becomes both a literal setting and a symbolic space where contradictions live side by side—beauty and control, love and pain, presence and absence.
