In the stifling heat of late summer 1892, the quiet town of Fall River, Massachusetts, is rocked by a brutal double homicide. Andrew Borden, a wealthy and notoriously frugal businessman, and his second wife, Abby, are found violently murdered in their home. Suspicion quickly falls on Andrew’s youngest daughter from his first marriage — Lizzie Borden, a seemingly demure Sunday school teacher with a sharp tongue and a simmering inner life.
What unfolds is a chilling and provocative retelling of one of America’s most infamous murder cases. Set against a backdrop of repression, privilege, and patriarchy, LIZZIE reimagines the events leading up to the murders through the lens of a searing, all-female rock musical.
